The Snow Geese
Mary-Louise Parker hasn't been on Broadway since she starred in the widely panned 2009 production of Hedda Gabler. Now that her hit Showtime series Weeds has wrapped up, Parker is heading back to Broadway. She'll play Elizabeth Gaesling, a recent widow with two sons. If that sounds similar to Weeds' Nancy Botwin, don't worry. We're pretty sure this widow won't start selling pot and hook up with a Mexican drug cartel. Instead, the family grapples with financial uncertainty on the eve of the eldest son's deployment in World War I. Having survived the Shia LaBeouf–Alec Baldwin showdown that briefly derailed production of Orphans last spring, director Daniel Sullivan will helm the drama, written by buzzy playwright Sharr White, who made his Broadway debut last year with the critically acclaimed one-woman play The Other Place.
Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 W. 47th St. Previews start October 1; opens October 24.
