A Christmas Story
It was only a matter of time before someone set the story of Ralphie Parker and his desire for a Red Ryder BB Gun to music (or choreographed a kick line around his stodgy father's risqué woman's-leg lamp). Debuting this holiday season on Broadway is the musical version of the 1983 film A Christmas Story, produced by none other than Peter Billingsley, the original Ralphie. For the past 30 years, Billingsley has avoided expanding on his 12-year-old self's legacy, becoming a successful Hollywood producer of films like Iron Man, The Break-Up and another Christmas classic, Four Christmases. But now Billingsley is passing the role down to the adorable Clarke Hallum, who may well start a new holiday tradition on the Great White Way this year.
Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, 205 W. 46th St. Previews begin on November 7; opens on November 19.
