The Metropolitan Opera Fall/Spring Season
September 22–May 9, 2015
After some years of ill health, James Levine, the Metropolitan's maestro, returns this fall to conducting a full slate of operas (he handled a few shows last season), including a new production of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Also of note, John Adams' The Death of Klinghoffer makes its Met debut, as does Broadway powerhouse Susan Stroman, with a new production of Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow (with Renée Fleming in the title role). Other highlights include a new production of Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and favorites from the repertory such as Verdi's Aida, Mozart's Don Giovanni, Bizet's Carmen and Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, scheduled as a holiday treat for the entire family.
