Free Tours by Foot
Lace up those walking shoes and join Free Tours by Foot's expert guides for up-close views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Taste the diverse edibles of the Lower East Side, Greenwich Village or Chinatown on a food tour; check out Harlem landmarks like the Apollo Theater and the Lenox Lounge; and explore Chelsea and the High Line to get those striking river views. All guides work solely for tips, so the value of each outing is up to you.
And just for the holiday season, Free Tours by Foot is offering a New York Holiday Lights Tour of Midtown Manhattan. Tour-goers travel by foot (naturally) and train to stops like Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Lord and Taylor, Macy's and Tiffany and Co., taking in holiday music within the City's subway system. Along the way, an expert guide provides background information on the artists and stories behind each window, tree and light display. Though the tour itself is free, participants should be sure to bring $4.50 for subway fare.
