  • When Hurricane Sandy hit the New York City area in late October, relief poured in through numerous efforts, including text-message donations, volunteering and dining out. But the contributions don't stop there. The gifts we've collected here in our annual guide will help spread holiday cheer, both to their recipients and to those who need the help of various charity organizations. From jewelry whose sales directly benefit Hurricane Sandy relief programs to products that support the World Wildlife Fund, this season you can shop for your loved ones and give the gift of aid with merchandise. There are also NYC-themed goodies like borough tees for men and women; magnets and mugs; and the annual FDNY firefighters calendar, sales of which supports the New York City Fire Museum. Read on for more ideas on how you can make a difference this holiday season. —Christina Parrella
