Summer offers many of New York City's best-loved arts and cultural programs. The warm weather welcomes in a plethora of outdoor performances, botanic garden tours and provocative exhibitions at a number of public spaces throughout the five boroughs. Enjoy movies and history at the Intrepid; hands-on technology exhibitions at New York Hall of Science; and the music of Mozart at Lincoln Center. See additional season-specific events at The Cloisters Museum and Gardens–a medieval gem in Fort Tryon Park; across Lower Manhattan during River to River Festival; and the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, where Shakespeare's works take center stage. The variety of happenings serve as a reminder that on any given night, visitors can revel in history, culture and, most importantly, fun. Read on for more details about these and other summertime happenings.
