  • Brooklyn Museum
A short subway ride from Manhattan, the Brooklyn Museum houses a huge permanent collection categorized by culture, as well as touring exhibitions from a wide variety of geographic locations and time periods. The institution is next to Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and visitors can purchase discounted passes that allow them to tour both attractions in the same day. Upcoming exhibitions at the museum include Work of Art, highlighting the winner of Bravo's art-based reality series with a show up from December 22 to February 5; Newspaper Fiction: The New York Journalism of Djuna Barnes, 1913–1919, featuring the modernist writer's early nonfiction and drawings; and, opening on March 16, Keith Haring: 1978–1982, the first large-scale exhibition to explore the early life of the legendary New York artist.
