  • Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
Encompassing 11 arts organizations, Lincoln Center is a place where culture mavens can always find something inspiring—and this winter is certainly no exception. The New York City Ballet season includes a run of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, which is showing through January 4, 2014, as well as a variety of other programming running through March. The New York Philharmonic, meanwhile, continues a 2013–2014 season whose highlights include Handel's Messiah and Andrey Boreyko conducting works by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, and The Metropolitan Opera presents its holiday production of The Magic Flute.
