The Public Theater
Legendary director Joseph Papp founded this downtown arts space as one of the premier nonprofit theaters in the country. Since then, The Public Theater has become a go-to space for exciting and original programming, including the celebrated Shakespeare in the Park summer series. The 2012–2013 season brings world premieres, including Pulitzer Prize–winning author Edna Ferber's Giant (October 26–December 2), adapted for the stage and directed by Tony nominee Michael Greif; and Tony-nominated actor Colman Domingo's comedic and outlandish take on death and healing, Wild with Happy (October 9–November 11).
