Brooklyn Academy of Music
Downtown Brooklyn comes alive this fall, as the Brooklyn Academy of Music ends its 150th-anniversary year on a high note with the BAM Next Wave Festival (September 5–January 19, 2013). The 30th-annual festival surveys New York City's arts scene with a comprehensive lineup of theater, dance, music, film, comedy, talks and more. Installation and dance combine in ECLIPSE (September 5–9), a monumental creation from choreographer Jonah Bokaer and artist Anthony McCall. BAM teams up with the independent Brooklyn shop Greenlight Bookstore for Unbound, a contemporary literary tribute series featuring guest authors like Malcolm Gladwell and Gary Shteyngart (September 18–November 20). And from December 12 to 16, see the Icelandic troupe Vesturport Theatre display their aerial feats and comedic high jinks in the US premiere of Faust: A Love Story.
