  • Historic Richmond Town
Staten Island's Historic Richmond Town is a place where history meets the present day. Its 100 acres are home to countless relics of the borough's past including a 19th-century courthouse, a general store from the 1840s and a carpenter's shop. It doesn't get more classic than the Richmond County Fair, (August 31–September 2) a decades-old tradition that brings in circus performers, pony rides, amusements for kids and even a pie-eating contest. Later in the season, Halloween in Richmond Town (October 25) invites kids in costume to trick-or-treat around the storied grounds, then reconvene for games, crafts and bobbing for apples. On December 8, feel the magic of the holiday season at Christmas in Richmond Town, where families can watch a tinsmith craft ornaments, snap a picture with Santa, listen to carolers, take a horse-and-wagon ride and see Historic Richmond Town's holiday tree light up the grounds.
