A colorful addition to a sleepy Astoria street (31st Avenue, naturally), the vintage women’s clothing store Loveday 31's cutesy name is appropriate given its Skittles-colored interior and affable employees. Union Jack prints flank the entrance, which opens into a clothing-packed space where the few ladies it can hold bop their heads to Brit-invasion tunes spilling from the speakers. The shop has pieces mainly from the '80s, but '60s mod and '70s disco have their place here as well. Dresses run between $45 and $65, and you'll be hard-pressed to find anything over $100. In addition to the vintage gear, Loveday 31 carries new jewelry from local designers (think sulu-design and Rebel Chic). If Rainbow Brite shopped in Queens, this would be her favorite store.
