"Authentic" doesn't even scratch the surface of just how Italian the food is at this 35-seat restaurant. Indeed, you'll feel like you're dining in the home of an Italian nonna—and that's exactly the idea. The kitchen is manned by a rotating team of Italian grandmas (Adelena, Carmelina, Nina, Rosaria, Rosa, Teresa, Christina, Francesca and Luisa, in case you were wondering), who hail from a number of different regions of Italy. The menu changes nightly, depending on who's at the stove and, during the summer, what ingredients are locally available, since much of the produce used is from farmers' markets. Having already received acclaim from The Wall Street Journal, The Daily News, Rachael Ray, NPR and the Today show, Enoteca Maria is quietly becoming a destination for in-the-know foodies. —HP
