The West Village is practically defined by the numerous restaurants that put a sophisticated twist on comfort food. On one end of the deeply satisfying spectrum is The Spotted Pig, which effectively launched the gastropub movement stateside, and whose two-story plaid-patterned interior hosts a steady stream of celebrities. Home is on the other end. You might pass by this almost humorously narrow storefront, and the tin-ceilinged dining room has a New England rusticity. Meanwhile, the rear patio, which underscores the Provincetown feel of the interior, is popular but never sceney. Home's locally sourced menu also is decidedly American, spanning from the Cape (delicious clam chowder) to the Midwest (pork chops served with onion rings, brussels sprouts and bacon) and down south (oyster po' boys at lunch).
