Live, Not Recorded
On North 6th Street sits the Music Hall of Williamsburg, which plays host to the heavies of independent music and college rock when they pass through the City. With acts booked by the powerful Bowery Presents team (which also handles Manhattan hotspots Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom and Terminal 5), Music Hall of Williamsburg has an appealingly varied lineup: nouveau-R&B maven The Weeknd or Wu-Tang Clan's GZA one night, sludge-metal outfit High On Fire another. Not far away is the latest iteration of the Knitting Factory, which books buzzed-about artists. The front bar is a fine place to have a beer whether you're there for the tunes or not; on Sundays, the room features a comedy night hosted by rising-star Hannibal Buress.
