While fall in New York City might mean less daylight, it also means more evening hours to enjoy tasty beverages, tailored to the season, at the City's bars and restaurants. Many of the concoctions epitomize creativity; as Dutch Kills bartender Karin Stanley notes, "Now playfulness in a standard cocktail lounge is no longer taboo." From hard cider quaffs to ingredients like maple syrup, chocolate tomatoes, Thai-chili olive brine, egg whites and formerly obscure spirits like Bols Genever, NYC's cocktail boom shows no sign of abating. We ventured to seven locations and selected 10 cocktails worth sipping. (Tough job, we know, but somebody's got to do it.) Here's our rundown of the places—and concoctions—we'll be returning to.
