  • New Yorkers know all about making the most of limited space—we live with roommates, we use foldout couches and we set up "offices" in the corners of bedrooms. (This apartment is a prime example.) Businesses aren't exempt from this approach—there are plenty of New York City restaurants, shops and bars pulling double duty, sometimes in unexpected ways. Some examples: a Tibetan restaurant that sells mobile phones, a knitting shop where you can have a drink and a health-food restaurant that offers framing services.
