  • The River Café
1 Water St., 718-522-5200, DUMBO, Brooklyn
Even more beautiful than before Superstorm Sandy battered it, the River Café is once again a romantic, floating dream. It took 15 months for owner Michael "Buzzy" O'Keeffe to rehab it back to perfection, including purchasing a new Steinway piano for the lounge. Brad Steelman is back at the kitchen's helm, excelling at luxurious New American dishes like crispy Beau Soleil oysters with smoked salmon and caviar, and black sea bass with lobster brown butter and artichoke ravioli. The jaw-dropping views of Manhattan, stunning floral arrangements, dress code (jackets required for men) and $115 three-course prix-fixe menu ($145 for the six-course chef's signature tasting menu) make this a harbor for special occasions. If you're planning a proposal, do reserve a table by the window. A "yes" is assured.
