  • Gaonnuri
1250 Broadway, 39th fl., 212-971-9045, Midtown West, Manhattan
Now that "Gangnam Style" has reached critical mass (rougly 900 million YouTube views and counting), what a perfect time to debut a theatrical Korean restaurant. Gaonnuri, which translates as "center of the world," perches 39 stories above Midtown and offers panoramic views of the cityscape (from one angle is a stunning close-up of the Empire State Building). Architect and Gaonnuri CEO Andy Sung had the vision to transform a perfunctory office space into a contemporary, sophisticated destination with tabletop grills, a separate bar/lounge and two private dining rooms. Lunchtime offers a three-course menu for $29. Dinner is more of a blowout affair, featuring succulent Korean barbecue, seafood hot pots and broiled black cod with soybean sauce.
