You know those holiday gatherings where there's a split between vigilant vegetarians and hard-core carnivores? Feast, in a way, addresses that. The farmers' market tasting menu ($38 per person) is a cornucopia of baby vegetables, smoked goat cheese tart with forest mushrooms, kabocha squash agnolotti with brown butter and gingersnap crumble, and, for dessert, an apple crisp with lemon crème fraîche. The nose-to-tail tasting menu ($48 per person) will change seasonally and feature, say, all things lamb—merguez stew, lamb shank lasagna and rack of lamb, for instance. Each feast is meant for two or more diners—and the menu specifies "full table participation." Can't reach an accord? Luckily there's an à la carte menu featuring a mix of protein and vegetables, such as barbecue shrimp pie with grits and beet ravioli with goat cheese and olive crumble. Chef Christopher Meenan (ex-Veritas) is the wizard behind the curtain, making everybody happy in the rustic East Village dining room.
