  • Harlow
    111 E. 56th St., 212-935-6600, Midtown East, Manhattan
The name Harlow says old Hollywood glamour, and the opulent backdrop lives up to it. At the base of Midtown's Lombardy Hotel, this 200-seat seafood restaurant once served as the party room for Marion Davies, longtime mistress of William Randolph Hearst, the property's original owner. Richie Notar, Nobu's managing partner, is the mogul behind it these days. It's been restored to all its glory, and then some: vintage chandeliers, cathedral-like leaded glass windows, ornate moldings, plus art by Andy Warhol. In cushy booths are bevies of beauties with long, swishing hair, squired by well-toned men in tight-fitting, fashion-forward shirts and suits. Survey the über New York scene with a radiant cocktail and move on to Danny Ye's globally influenced, flawlessly executed menu: oysters with crispy kimchi and jalapeño mignonette, a pile of lightly breaded seafood-and-vegetable fritto misto and sweet, mild branzino bathed in wasabi stem gremolata.
