Elizabeth Falkner has been a name to watch for years, from her days at Citizen Cake in San Francisco to being a James Beard nominee, Iron Chef and Top Chef star, penning well-received cookbooks and taking first place at the World Pizza Championship in Naples. This summer she landed at Corvo Bianco in the old Calle Ocho space, where her grilled, chewy, oblong pizzas are on the bar menu and served as antipasti. Up a few steps from the airy bar and lounge is a grand, skylit dining room that looks like a cross between a Milan galleria and a Paris train station. Coastal cuisine is the focus, as in pasta with clams, lemon zest and chilies and grilled whole branzino. Secondi include grilled quail with creamed corn and porchetta with stonefruit. Pastry chef Adam Marca is another one to watch, specializing in fruit-forward dolci like strawberry cassata with ricotta mousse, and grilled peaches with almond cake and salted corn gelato.
