  • Toro
85 Tenth Ave., 212-691-2360, Chelsea, Manhattan
There's a Meatpacking District vibe to this slamming Spanish restaurant. Expect an upscale, partying crowd spread out over a vast, soaring space that used to be a Nabisco factory. Co-chefs and owners Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette have channeled the success of their Toro in Boston, bringing classics like pan con tomate, paella and delectable medjool dates stuffed with marcona almonds and Cabrales blue cheese and wrapped in Serrano ham. The extensive tapas menu is designed for communal picking and the wine and drinks menu is just plain fun—unusual grapes, sherry, cider, a variety of gin and tonics and a better-than-you'd-think cocktail of red wine and Coke that's popular in Spain. Toro is within the same brick building that houses Colicchio & Sons and Del Posto, but the entrance is around the corner, closer to Eleventh Avenue.
