After suffering through some rough weather in the winter months, New York City is welcoming summer with open arms. And the collection of warm-climate events is sure to please, as always, with many returning favorites, like the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, Pride Week and the Lincoln Center Festival. The majority of the season's most exciting events are also free—including Shakespeare in the Park, the Museum Mile Festival and Broadway in Bryant Park—but some require tickets and others fill up fast, so get in on the action early. A special highlight for sports fans, the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game takes place at Citi Field, home of the Mets. Also on the sports front, close out your summer with tennis' biggest affair, the US Open Tennis Championships.
