    Gelato on a stick is the twist at this venue, making it stand out in a gelato-packed borough. During its first six months of existence, Popbar was the American franchise of Stickhouse, a Turin-based brand that popularized the unique concept in Italy; the shop is no longer affiliated with the brand, however. Still, the treats here are a far cry from the shrink-wrapped frozen concoctions at your local deli—instead, the small storefront displays all of the premade pops in beautifully arranged, colorful rows. (Frozen-yogurt and sorbetto pops are also available.) Pops can be dipped, either fully or partially, in three types of chocolate, then customized with toppings (nuts, coconut, chocolate sprinkles, crushed waffles and caramel popcorn). You can even watch the desserts being made on the premises with all-natural ingredients. It's a pretty, delicious and unusual way to eat gelato—great for snacking while walking around the West Village on a summer's night. —CL
