Grom
1796 Broadway, 212-974-3444, Midtown West, Manhattan
233 Bleecker St., 212-206-1738, West Village, Manhattan
Fifth Avenue at West 72nd Street, Upper East Side, Manhattan (a food cart open from April through September)
Grom is where to go nuts—literally. Among the 15-plus flavors of gelato, the nut-based impress the most, particularly the salty pistachio and the decadent nocciola. Ingredients are always in season here and painstakingly sourced, from the Piedmont-born hazelnuts to the Pizzuta almonds from Avola. The chain, which hails from Turin, even runs its own organic fruit farm, so freshness is never an issue—the founders are obsessed with authenticity and excellence in flavor. Fans are so mad about Grom that the locations have perpetual lines snaking from their doors all summer long. —KS
