The NYC Vendy Awards were held September 7, 2013, at the sprawling Industry City in Brooklyn, where over two dozen trucks competed for top street-food honors. Among the finalists—and drawing the longest lines—were Porchetta, The Cinnamon Snail, OddFellows and eat-my-dust Luke's Lobster, the People's Taste winner for its luscious lobster rolls. The event raised $100,000 for The Street Vendor Project, a nonprofit organization that celebrates the trucks' delicious contributions to the City and helps vendors learn about their legal rights and how to grow their businesses. This year's judges included meat purveyor Pat LaFrieda, Brooklyn Brewery's Garrett Oliver and food-loving model Elettra Wiedemann. To see how they voted, read on.
