    NYC Mob Tour
Today, New York is America's safest large city—but its past is bursting with fascinating organized-crime history. Evidence of that legacy hides in plain view all around Manhattan. This tour, beginning and ending in Little Italy, transports visitors to the onetime stomping grounds of such infamous mobsters as Joey Gallo and John Gotti. The trek is a mix of mob history real and imagined—tales about Arnie Rothstein, the man who fixed the 1919 World Series, and visits to the places where Paul Castellano and Joe Colombo were killed are interspersed with nods to The Godfather and The Sopranos. History and fiction collide when the guides discuss connections between the Five Points neighborhood of 19th-century New York City and Martin Scorsese's 2002 film Gangs of New York. The tour's organizers aren't shy about the grisly details, promising attendees the chance not only to walk in gangsters' shoes but also to "lie in their chalk outlines." Ticket holders receive a 20% discount at various restaurants and stores in Little Italy.
