When planning group leisure travel or FIT packages to New York City, NYC & Company’s Tourism Department is your best source for information. Our team is happy to provide you with itinerary ideas, connect you with hotels, tours, attractions, restaurants and other tourism services throughout the City and keep you apprised of the latest NYC happenings. In recent years NYC & Company has greatly expanded its international reach, adding three new offices in 2008 for a total of 18 offices representing 25 markets. NYC & Company maintains an integrated five-borough approach to promoting New York City, which amplifies its branding, leverages trade relationships for enhanced promotion of the destination in market, creates cooperative promotions to drive visitation particularly during off-peak periods and works in tandem with PR efforts by market to optimize messaging.

NYC Tax Update
On August 1, 2009, the NYC sales and use tax increased from 4% to 4.5%. There is no change to NY State tax rates. The sales tax on all items, exclusive of clothing and apparel under $110, will be 8.875%.
Total tax on a NYC hotel room: 14.75% + $3.50/room/night
• NYC sales tax: 4.5%
• NY State sales tax: 4%
• MCTD state sales & use tax: 0.375%
• NYC Hotel Occupancy Tax: 5.875%
• NYC Hotel Room Occupancy Tax of $2.00/room /night applies to all rooms charging $40/night or more.
• NYS Javits expansion fund charge of $1.50/room/night applies to all rooms, effective 4/1/05.
