Time Out NY Please note: this business is now closed; nycgo.com keeps record of many old and closed venues. Once the boy wonder of American cuisine, Larry Forgione brought An American Place-and some zip-to a windowless beige room in Lord & Taylor. Hearty Forgione classics such as cedar-planked salmon and "triple white" meat loaf (made of turkey, pork and veal) showcase ingredients produced in this country. Of course, there are also salads for ladies who lunch: Carolina rock shrimp and free-range chicken salad, or wood-roasted portobello mushroom over greens. Forgione also added a snackier place, the Signature Café, which serves soups and salads, as well as s'mores, sundaes and cake.
