During the rest of the week, such spectacular hats abound at Bruce Elliott, a cozy uptown boutique that specializes in women's chapeaux. Sunny yellow walls are lined with gilt shelves piled high with theatrical pieces, such as a fuzzy black felt fedora adorned with crystals ($400) and a rhinestone-encrusted tan horsehair cloche ($1,500). Some flashy jewelry ($50--$200) and smart leather handbags ($95--$350) are also on display. However, proprietor and neighborhood-resident Elliott keeps the emphasis on his customers' favorites: "hats with lots of drama."
