New York City is made up of five boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Each one has enough attractions—and enough personality—to be a city all its own. Learn more about them with this guide.
For Keith McNally acolytes who migrate between Lucky Strike, Balthazar, Minetta Tavern and Schiller's, note there is a touch of each at Cherche Midi. The weathered mirrors and red leather banquettes, flattering golden light, professional staff and fashionable crowd all feel familiar. The French-Mediterranean menu is well executed, from sautéed sardines on grilled country bread to lobster ravioli in ginger beurre blanc to the inevitable signature burger and frites. As with McNally's other restaurants, it's also a prime spot to stop in for a restorative drink at the bar, whether or not you're waiting for a table.
