The geniuses who turned Avenue A into a nighttime gay runway with the opening of Starlight and Wonderbar (since sold) have opened a not-so-gay gay bar in the depths of Alphabet City. Housed in what was formerly the biker joint 9C, Clubhouse looks more like a downtown boutique, with sweeping picture windows and candlelight flickering atop sleek white countertops, made from recycled milk cartons. Come during the extended happy hour (all drinks are two-for-one from 6 to 10pm), to avoid running up a Soho-size tab.
