description/

The New American food here is killer, no matter which mealtime you choose. At breakfast are house-made pastries and poached eggs with summer squash latke and hollandaise. For lunch, how about a griddled cheese sandwich with cheddar, peaches, candied pecans, arugula and whole-grain mustard? Dinnertime features a raw bar, hearthstone pizza, kibbe meatballs and spit-roasted chicken with roasted garlic and macerated sugar plums. Then there's brunch, with pulled-pork croquettes and cheddar grits or scrambled eggs with smoked trout, caramelized onions, crème fraîche and a buttermilk biscuit. In case you can't tell, this is a seasonal, globe-hugging menu that Marc Meyer and his team play with frequently. The owners (Meyer, wife Victoria Freeman and partner Chris Paraskevaides) are also behind Hundred Acres in the West Village and Five Points in NoHo. Cookshop is a modern and spirited place to take the family—if you don't mind some noise—and convenient to the High Line.
