It's hard to figure out why they call this a bistro--perhaps it's because of the decent wine list. Punjabi cooks prepare the usual array of subcontinental staples, but you should select a rarer dish, such as jingha jaltoori (tiny shrimp cooked in tomato-onion curry sauce) or punj rattani dal (five kinds of lentils with garlic and ginger). The service is especially accommodating. Dakshin doesn't warrant a trip across town, but neighborhood residents would do well to stop by, especially for the $6 all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.
