A new midsize club with a beautiful layout and an absolutely killer sound system, one that's making at least a small effort to cater to the underground house and techno scene? In Manhattan? It sounds too good to be true--and only time will tell if it is true (here's hoping the music policy never converts to a focus on Top 40 claptrap). But for now, District 36 seems to be hitting all the right notes.
