New York City is made up of five boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Each one has enough attractions—and enough personality—to be a city all its own. Learn more about them with this guide.
Dog Day Cyclery owner Damien Nesbit knows bicycles from nearly every angle: before opening this full-service bike shop with his father, he worked as a bike messenger, bike mechanic and bike seller. It’s a fitting venture for Red Hook, where the influx of new residents—and bikes, natch—has increased exponentially over the last few years. Located right off the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway—the 14-mile stretch of bike and footpaths linking several of the borough’s neighborhoods—Dog Day Cyclery is serendipitously situated to serve both local cyclists and those just passing through.
