A fortune teller greets patrons at this comfortably-worn reproduction of a prohibition speakeasy. There"s a rousing bar scene in front, mix-and-match tables in back and a pleasant covered garden. Known for their original cocktails (the Roselle and the West Side are crowd favorites), their dinner menu is hearty American fare, with Eastern European influences. Appetizers include a handsome Serbian charcuterie plate featuring a paprika-fueled kielbasa and creamy chicken liver pate. Excellent sweetbreads are finished with a subtle dijon dressing. Meat-eaters should consider the gargantuan seared rib-eye with horseradish mustard, jalapeño slices and a zesty potato gratin. A merguez stuffed lamb loin with roasted tomatoes and snap pea salad is equally superb.
