Exchange Alley is an East Village hideaway that works as both a romantic date spot and a lively venue for a group of friends. It's New Orleans meets New York, thanks to chef and partner Paul Gerard, who spent much of his life in both cities (Exchange Alley was the name of his street in New Orleans). The menu is spirited and features items meant to be shared, including meatball parmigiano flatbread, barbecued shrimp, steamed clams casino and jambalaya balls with dirty gravy. Billy Gilroy of Employees Only is a partner and also designed the space, lending it an old-school, film noir context.
