Tucked away on the second floor of a nondescript walk-up, this secret spot is packed with perhaps enough yarn to wind around Manhattan. While its selection of haute skeins ($9--$60) and vintage buttons (from $4) are a bit pricey for beginners, GK also offers private lessons ($50 per hour) and unlike most stitchers' shops, actually stays open past sundown on Thursday nights.
