description/
The official residence of the Mayor of New York City was built in 1799 and is located in Carl Schurz Park at East End Avenue and East 88th Street on the City’s Upper East Side. Archibald Gracie built the mansion in the Federal architectural style and used the building as his country home until 1823, when he had to sell it to pay off some debts. Today it is used more for meetings and events than as a residence.
