description/
The New York branch of the global mega-gallery started in London in 2002 (before expanding to Zurich and Berlin as well as NYC), Haunch of Venison was acquired in 2007 by Christie's Auction House in a controversial buyout that set art-world eyebrows soaring. Its five-room 20,000-square-foot space, designed by Steven Lerner Studio, received the American Architects Award in 2009, and befitting that honor, hosts museum-quality, bluest-of-blue-chip shows--such as its survey of works on paper by Pop Art pioneer Tom Wesselman, and themed group exhibitions like "The Figure and Dr. Freud," which featured takes on the nude by artists as diverse as Picasso, Mel Ramos and Cecily Brown.
