On September 12, 2014, the InterContinental New York Barclay closed its doors to begin a complete revitalization to restore its original 1926 residential elegance. The hotel is expected to re-open in late 2015. Plans for the renovation include a redesigned lobby, new and expanded function spaces, a high-profile bar, newly-designed guestrooms, presidential and other specialty suites, state-of-the-art technology and a modernized fitness center.
