Professional club kid Matt Levine (the Eldridge) has taken over Thor, the Hotel on Rivington"s failing restaurant, and changed the name to LevantEast. The new version looks pretty much like the old one but now features sticker-shock cocktails, bottle-service and a late-night scene. The $19 Irish Rose (whiskey, gin, rose liqueur, ginger ale) tastes like Gatorade, and the food is so poorly executed--mealy shrimp cocktail giving way to rubber-band duck breast with sawdust couscous--Levine might consider scrapping food entirely.
