Love Child takes place in New World Stages’ most intimate theater, which makes it that much easier to pay close attention to Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton’s rapid-fire play. The pair zooms through numerous characters without changing costumes or sets; six chairs occupy the stage, and only a quick switch of seats suggests that an actor has assumed a new persona. Once the pacing become familiar, you’ll find that Jenkins and Stanton are portraying every actor and stagehand on the opening night of Euripides’s Ion. They also channel audience members, most notably the show-biz parents of Ion’s star.
