Originally called the New York & Harlem Railroad, this train service operated as early as 1832 on a horse-car line in lower Manhattan. Since 1983, its award-winning Metro-North incarnation has transported passengers throughout Westchester and the Bronx and into New Haven and Fairfield, Connecticut. The railroad operates from the majestic, renovated Grand Central Terminal in Midtown and serves an average of 281,000 people every weekday.
