Nau pop-up shop

69 Mercer St between Broome and Spring Sts
Manhattan, NY

Time Out NY Sustainable apparel company Nau opens a temporary shop in Soho to sell its earth-friendly wares. Built from scratch, the store's furnishings are made from materials found in abandoned warehouses and recycling centers, as well as big tree limbs and other deserted supplies sourced in all five boroughs. "People understand the sustainability just by looking at it," lead designer Jean Pierre says. "No explanation needed." Some of the innovative pieces (not for sale) include tables made out of cardboard and intricate fixtures made from recycled metals. "Each product has a story," CEO Gordon Seabury says. "This store is not just about buying a product; it's about learning something." Among the goods available to purchase are Modus trench coats made entirely of recycled polyester ($425), organic cotton Fluent traveler bags ($200) and Merino woven scarves ($85). Through Dec 31.
