Pier 17, South Street Seaport, Fulton St at the East River
In a not-so-daring move, the owners of a restaurant at Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport have decided to go with a seafood theme. Everything at Pacific Grill is aquamarine-colored--tables, banquettes, booths, ceiling fans and beach-style umbrellas (for the 75 outdoor seats)--and the walls are adorned with wood carvings of lobsters, sea monkeys and crabs. The food shows Pan-Asian influences, especially in appetizers like honey-glazed tempura shrimp, Thai curried mussel stew and sweet Maine baby shrimp with seaweed salad and star fruit. You can take in a gorgeous view of the river while you eat, provided all the camera-toting tourists don"t get in the way.
