This vegan gem is a welcome addition to the just slightly veggie-compliant Upper West Side. The small but diverse selection of wholesome dishes includes a fried seitan panino that teams a wheat-gluten cutlet with cashew-based "goat cheese," peppery arugula and tomatoes on focaccia. The tempeh-avocado sandwich follows suit with another satisfying juxtaposition: baked marinated tempeh, avocado, pickled radish, carrots and cilantro on spelt-rye toast. Desserts are just as good as their cream-and-butter cousins: Minibrownies are impossibly rich and fudgy.
