Socarrat Paella Bar, which opened in 2008, had a problem. It was so tiny and so popular that the hungry had to wait on the sidewalk for a stool to open up (the spot doesn't take reservations). At the end of 2009, chef/owner Jesus "Lolo" Manso came up with a way to better accommodate those eager for the Socarrat experience—he opened an authentic Spanish wine and tapas bar next door. It's a lovely space, cozy and welcoming, with a charming ceiling of white-painted cupboards. While there's no paella, there is a simple selection of cocas (flatbread pizzas), quiche-like tortillas, Spanish hams and cheese.
